Gerald "Jerry" L. Kochel, 85, of Lititz, passed away on Friday, November 10th, 2017, at Landis Homes.
He was born in Ephrata, PA on October 23rd, 1932 to the late Harold and Lillian C. (Christiansen) Kochel and was the husband of Sandra Adams.
He was a member of Lititz United Methodist Church for many years.
Jerry was a life-long coin collector and a member of Red Rose Coin Club, Lebanon Valley Coin Club, American Numismatic Association, Central States Numismatic Association, Florida United Numismatists, and PAN-Pennsylvania Association of Numismatists.
He was an avid baseball fan, cheering for the Phillies (his favorite team).
He was a lifetime member of the Lititz VFW and Lititz Legion, a charter member and Treasurer of the Young Men's Business League (Lititz) and a member of the Lancaster Liederkranz, Lancaster AMVETS and Ephrata Elks Lodge 1933. was a proud United States Military veteran, serving in the Army and National Guard for over 20 years. He retired from Kerr Glass after 40 years of service.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Jere Kochel, husband of Diane, a granddaughter, Amy Kochel and three step children; Sherri Forry, wife of Jeff, Jeff Adams, husband of Karyn, Steven Adams, husband of Erica and 5 step grandchildren; Brant Forry, LeAnne Adams, Jared Adams, Emma Adams and Max Adams.
Jerry's wife Sandra would like to extend her heartfelt love and gratitude for the loving care that the Landis Homes healthcare staff gave to Jerry the last couple of years.
The Memorial Service will be held at Spacht-Snyder Family Funeral Home, 127 S. Broad St., Lititz on Thursday, November 16th at 12:00 noon with The Rev. Jerry M. McGrath officiating. A visitation with Jerry's family will be held at Spacht-Snyder on Thursday from 11:00am to the time of service.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Fort Indiantown Gap with full military honors.
