Funeral of Mrs Lewis Neilsen Held Saturday at Dane Church
Sophie Hansen was born in Denmark, December 25, 1876, and passed away at her home
Thursday, August 11, 1927, at 7:30 p.m., at the age of 50 years, 7 months and 17 days.
She came to this country when 4 years of age, and had made her home in Buchanan county since.
She was united in marriage to Lewis P. Neilsen, June 22, 1900. To this union were born six children:
Mary of Webster City, Leo of Winthrop, Theodore, Anna, Emma and Mabel of Rowley; also four sisters
and one brother: Mrs. J.P. Hansen, Mrs. Nels Madsen and R.F. Hansen of Independence, Iowa, and
Mrs. Chris Petersen of Lamoni, Ia., and Mrs. J.F. Dauber, of Pine River ,Minn. One brother is deceased.
Mrs. Neilsen had been in failing health for the past three years, and at times her sufferings were intense.
The funeral was held at the Danish church, Saturday afternoon, with burial there. Her daughter Mary,
and husband, of Webster City, and Mr. and Mrs. Chris Petersen of Lamoni, Iowa were her to attend
the funeral.
